On 3rd April, we started a dormer loft conversion in Barnes – not far from the river. It has been a week since we started and already the steels are in and the framework is up ready for the roof to go on. Building control are visiting tomorrow to check the insulation under the floor and we will then start on the roof and sides. Dormer loft conversions are quicker to do than mansard lofts but one does not get as much space in them as the party walls are not utilised – these walls don’t have to be built up either so this saves time.
Building control has signed off the steel work and the insulation in the walls and roof. We have broken through to the floor below and installed the staircase already. We have 5 men on site and progress is fast. We are looking forward to having 4 days off over the Easter break!
Please check the photos for the excellent progress during the first 28 days. Building control came to check the insulation yesterday and all was well. The tin roof on the scaffold is coming down today (1-5-14) and we are now just waiting for the french doors and the bathroom window to arrive.
