We started this small project at the end of August, 2013. Progress was quick until we realised that the position of the rear wall was directly over a public sewer pipe. Building Control told us that we could not continue without a build over agreement from Thames Water. This halted progress on the project for 7 weeks. The foundations had to be altered as this rear wall had to be built on a cantilever so that no weight would be put on this sewer pipe. By this stage, the kitchen had been completely ripped out so our poor clients had no kitchen during this ‘stand-still’ period. It was frustrating for us all.
On 9th November, we poured the concrete into the revised foundations and work started again. The race was now on to get the project completed in time for Christmas!
The walls and roof have been done, the insulation and the plastering has now been done and our tiler finished tiling the floor today. We hope to start putting the kitchen in tomorrow so that our clients can get their lives back to normal! They have been very patient!
